Local Authority

Summary

In 2005 this Local Authority embarked on an ambitious efficiency review setting up a shared service centre and implementing SAP as their ERP. This was followed in January 2006 by a second major change programme known as the Business Delivery Review (BDR).

Objectives

Alsbridge were contracted to review the existing SAP implementation to enable efficient Shared Services across the Council. The scope of Alsbridge’s work quickly expanded to include overall programme delivery of BDR – the objective of which was to save £50 million in costs over a 2 year period.

How Alsbridge helped

As ERP and Shared Services experts, Alsbridge provided full programme management and subject matter expertise for the BDR. This included:
  • Reviewing and validating existing SAP implementation plans
  • Recommending customisation to existing SAP interfaces,
  • Creating specific SAP based tools to enable increased financial accountability and control
  • On-going training at both management and user level

Results

Alsbridge have played a major role in the successful delivery of this ambitious change programme. The programme has already resulted in significant improvements and is being closely monitored by other County Councils as they struggle with the same financial pressures and organisational challenges.

Testimonial

"Alsbridge have played a pivotal role in the council's restructuring and cost saving activities, overseeing a major system and shared services process review to enable a fundamental change to the way we work. We have been able to achieve significant change in a very short period of time and would not be where we are today without their expertise, leadership and support”.
