The project scope involved offshoring more than 100 Finance and Accounting (F&A) roles. In addition to the project management requirements, Centrica came to realise that F&A was more complex than the other functions, and would require more support in transition. Alsbridge were initially asked to provide support in a traditional outsourcing advisory capacity. They helped manage Centrica through the process of defining their requirements, assessing potential suppliers, and signing a contract for offshore delivery through the supplier selection and contracting stage. Alsbridge worked closely with the Centrica outsourcing team, quickly establishing a relationship built on trust.

Danfoss had a number of objectives for setting up the shared services centre, which included lower costs, the ability to achieve and maintain one common set of business processes, improved ability to manage F&A costs as the business grows and the ability to integrate acquisitions and realise synergies faster. The company believed that outsourcing would enable it to achieve these objectives with lower risk and at lower cost than doing it alone. As a consequence of Alsbridge’s involvement, Danfoss was able to move from starting work on the RFP to signing a deal in seven months, which is good going for a relatively complex project. The financial outcome is a significant reduction in operating costs over the lifetime of the deal.

Alsbridge advised this service group working in the management of facilities, projects and IT systems, through to the creation of entirely new businesses to establish and enhance a Finance Shared Service Centre, including planning and assurance roles.

Alsbridge supported client through a three phase BPO engagement that entails a review and outsourcing process of revenue accounting activity (PRAS). The initial phase involved strategy and feasibility, followed by RFP development and supplier selection, finalizing with contract negotiations.

A global engineering company with $90B in annual revenues and over 461,000 employees worldwide. Alsbridge assisted in the assessment of the existing shared services organizations across Asia Pacific, with a view to re-engineering and implementing to a best practice environment. Alsbridge enabled this global engineering firm to reach a competitive and sustainable finance BPO deal for its pan-European operations. Alsbridge guided the development of a comprehensive outsourcing strategy, and provided oversight of the supplier selection process, business case modeling, service specification, negotiation and transition.

Global Energy Company

Client is a Global Energy Company with $168B in Annual Revenue and 112,000+ Employees worldwide. The cost of in-country support of their operations was rising, and client had significant earning pressure to control cost and keep abreast of their competition. Alsbridge conducted an evaluation of global back office services with an emphasis on F&A and HR to determine the cost of the base environment and assess both outsourcing and captive shared services options. After an extensive due diligence effort and attaining potential vendor bid estimates, Alsbridge recommended (based on the scales and scope of some operations) that some functions be outsourced, while others should be retained, consolidated and moved to SSC's in lower cost locations.

Global Food Company

Alsbridge helped this global food company with $12.5B in annual revenues and over 21,000 employees worldwide to outsource F&A from 4 Nordic countries to an outsourced shared services centre in Prague. We further helped them to develop a sourcing strategy for certain European functions including Procurement, HR and payroll. We analyzed the potential business cases for a range of approaches, including in-country and pan-European consolidation, automation, in-house shared services and outsourcing solutions.

Global Media Company

The client is a global leader in the music industry, with over 5,500 employees worldwide and operations in over 50 countries. They occupy a premium position in the music recording and publishing market.

In collaboration with its private equity parent, the client had embarked upon a major restructuring of the recorded music business. The goal was to deliver an aggressive £200m per annum reduction in operating costs, and 1,500 – 2,000 in headcount. Transformation of the finance function was identified as a key means of achieving this target, particularly through the outsourcing of selected finance and accounting processes. Alsbridge plc was brought in to ensure the incumbent ‘sole source’ provider offered a competitive solution and price, and to help conclude the negotiation process in as short a time as possible.

Global provider of engineering and construction services

This client is a global provider of engineering and construction services, technology products and integrated solutions, employing approximately 24,000 people in approximately 30 countries. Alsbridge provided support of F&A BPO deal throughout deal cycle, within the scope of legal entity accounting.

International Brewing Group

Alsbridge assisted this International Brewer with annual revenues of $12.9B and over 40,000 employees in the development of a finance shared services/outsourcing strategy for Eastern Europe.

A major international construction group with annual revenues of $3.6B and over 17,000 employees. Alsbridge assisted the client with a transformational outsourcing initiative covering HR, Finance, and associated applications. Our role included scope and service level definition, contract negotiation and quality assurance of transition plans.

International Holiday and Leisure Group

Alsbridge helped this client develop a sourcing strategy for its back office processes and managed the initial outsourcing programme. Our role included managing the bidding process, co-development of the solution, selection and contract negotiation and managing the transition of services for the offshore outsourcing of F&A, payroll and associated applications management. We were subsequently retained to assist in the implementation of the second wave of service scope.

PE-backed UK retail company with $268M in annual revenues. Alsbridge helped the client to develop its sourcing strategy, outsource its F&A, stock management, and end-to-end IT to a global provider from an offshore location. Further, the effort included the transformation of business processes and implementation of a new ERP application.

Alsbridge assisted this major banking and global Financial Services Company with $21B in Annual Revenue; 63,000+ Employees to develop an offshore strategy with a focus on relocating parts of F&A function of 1500 FTEs to the Asia Pacific region. We conducted location assessments, assessed the business case, assisted with supplier selection, benchmarked the commercials and supported the client in contract negotiation.

MyTravel

MyTravel initiated a number of projects that improved the controls and reporting of the finance and accounting function in the short term, but, in the process realised that a more permanent solution was required. As a consequence of Alsbridge’s involvement, MyTravel was able to achieve a sustainable and effective sourcing partnership, providing a long term platform for on-going business needs. The whole process was concluded in less than 7 months with minimal disruption throughout the outsourcing process. The financial outcome is a significant reduction in operating costs with anticipated saving of around £35million for F&A and IT over the lifetime of the deal.
